About

How often have you thought:

  • That your voice doesn’t feel loud enough to drown out health care’s legislative rhetoric?
  • Your elected officials are simply missing the ball on the health care playing field?
  • Getting tired of singing the same old song to the same people like a broken record?
  • How can little ol’ me make a difference in our health care system?

Well, you’re not alone. There are many heARTists that feel the same way, and that’s what fuels the HeART of Healing mission. Believe it or not, a lot of our current health care issues have more to do with a disconnection between people and our elected officials, than a silver-bullet health care plan. We, the people, would like to see a health care system that works for us: give us quality, give us access, and make it affordable.

Yet our voices seem muffled by special interest groups and policy propaganda… not to mention it seems as through our ability to organize around common goals (especially health care) is like herding three-legged cats across eggshells.

So to get the ball rolling, the Archimedes Movement is ready to think outside the box, throw the lid off our current approaches to medicine and policy, and define health perspectives through local communities. A lot of the debate to date has been about what we don’t want and what we’re afraid of losing. It’s time we shifted perspective and talk about what we do want and the possibilities of what we can gain from working together towards a common goal: health. This means that by active engagement, we can create networks between non-profits, community organizations, educational resources, and concerned citizens to create a true dialogue that reflects the needs of the people.

To empower our community, the HeART of Healing sets out to redefine health care. Sets a megaphone to the people and community organizations who are actively engaged, literally tuned in and turned on to what our communities real needs are. This is how we can begin to create genuine and lasting change; we’ll start at ground level, and then we’ll cover the hillsides of Capitol Hill.

pointing-bunnyAs my grandmother always says, “Live by your heart and live by example, the rest will naturally follow.”

By embodying what you appreciate, by seeking out community resources that you trust, you are taking steps for not only health care, but for the health of our local economies and for a healthier communication between us and our elected officials. And, it’s a no-brainer that the best way to get together over a common goal is to celebrate… so if you feel like rejoicing over the unity in community, take a look at how you can become pART of the change.

No need to feel boxed in by our current health care debates, you have a voice and the HeART of Healing is an avenue to make a collective shout-out to overarching, legislative organizations.
